My thoughts

‘What I did’ is a highly immersive psychological thriller and I couldn’t put it down. I felt every bit of Lisa’s journey as she ran from her old life; but life catches up with a person and this novel didn’t disappoint. Domestic violence and escaping it feature heavily in this book as does addiction. There is so much at stake at every turn which puts the pressure on throughout.

It’s tense, frightening and had me biting my nails on a few occasions as I read through the night. I really enjoyed the chapters that explored Lisa’s relationship with her mother.

It’s not without its shockers. In fact, there are plenty. It’s a twisty read. About halfway through, I’m like… ‘what? Now, I wasn’t expecting that,’ but don’t worry, everything made total sense – clever!

Lisa’s past and present chapters both had a real urgency about them. This definitely kept me turning the pages late into the night. It’s also screams, ‘how far would you go to protect someone you dearly loved?’

If you enjoy psychological thrillers that will have your heart racing and are jam-packed with danger, then this is your book. Loved it!
