The Rebellion Will Be Broadcast

Just a couple of things for your diaries…

I’m really excited that my Writer in Residency for Sheffield Libraries’ Year of Reading is taking a rebellious twist. As part of The British Library’s Unfinished Business I’m running a couple of workshops all about rebellion – for both adults and teens – the results of which will be broadcast. Keep your eyes peeled for something similar in December (where we’ll not only broadcast the results and cut them into a film, but also publish them in a book – more on that soon)…

So, the blurb…

The Rebellion Will Be Broadcast – Tell Us What We Need to Change

Rebellion has been at the heart of countless points of change – cultural, artistic, and political. And there are things we’d all like to see done better.

Join Nik Perring, writer in residence, for a two-part workshop to channel those things we know the world can do better – from the tiniest inconvenience, to the biggest problems facing our society – into poems and stories which will be broadcast as part of Sheffield Libraries’ new digital program as part of the British Library’s Unfinished Business

Workshop 1: learn how to channel your frustrations and the things you want to change into brilliant poems and stories.

Workshop 2: work with Nik to tweak your work so it’s as good as it can be.

Once you’re happy with your piece simply record it on your own device and send it to us.

Nik has over 16 years’ experience showing people, no matter what their experience is, that they can write and we’d love to hear from you regardless of how much writing you’ve done. There’ll be tips and tricks from a pro to make your piece a fun and important part of what’s happening in the world right now.

We’ll be doing this on November 16th, and the 23rd. Click here for the Adults’ link

and here for the teens.

And if that’s not enough… on Thursday November 19th
