About the author
C. J. Tudor lives with her partner and young daughter. Her love of writing, especially the dark and macabre, started young. When her peers were reading Judy Blume, she was devouring Stephen King and James Herbert.
Over the years she has had a variety of jobs, including trainee reporter, radio scriptwriter, dog walker, voiceover artist, television presenter, copywriter and, now, author.

My thoughts
I loved the hook! Man sees daughter calling out for him in the back of the car in front, yet when he quickly pulls over to call home in a panic, he realises that his wife and daughter have just been murdered. I’m like… what? This opening alone had me literally reading as fast as I could to work out what was happening.
Wow, where do we go from here? We get an exploration of themes; grief, revenge and the relentless pursuit of the truth. I loved how Gabe lived in his camper van, living the lonely life of a man clutching at very flimsy straws. His character saddened me with every turn. With his certainty at what he saw and the probability of the truth; it felt like he was chasing ghosts.
There was heaps of mystery too. Who was the samaritan? And, then there are the pebbles, which I’m not saying anymore about in this review as I don’t want to give anything away. At times I felt really creeped out which was brilliant. I was hoping for creepy and ‘The Other People’ delivered in abundance.
This novel has a sinister feel, it’s full of questions and the supernatural elements really keep it at the top bar. Each character had a part to play and they were weaved into the story superbly.
There were plenty of surprises which kept me glued right up to the end. A wonderfully chilling book that centres on a search for the truth!
