Review of ‘Welcome to Nightmare Academy #1′ by Anthony Avina ****

Nightmare Academy

In 1990, eighteen-year-old Francesca Lucas was walking the cold streets of Rome. She was hungry and alone, ever since her parents were killed by thieves. She is dragged into an alley and bitten by a vampire. A silver-haired man wielding a sword decapitates the vampire, but it was too late to save her. She wakes up as a vampire. He tells her that she is now immortal like him, but she is not damned. Not all vampires are evil. In 2008, she enters the Nightmare Academy where supernatural creatures are being trained for the upcoming war against humans. However, she has other plans – revenge. The academy rules are ruthless: graduate or die.

In the Welcome to Nightmare Academy – #1 review, Anthony Avina presents readers with a simple story of lost love, conflict between good and evil, and a desire for redemption. The novella opens a window into a hidden world mortals never see. Although an interesting read, Anthony Avina stops short, encouraging readers to sample the next work in the series. This book will attract hard-bitten lovers of vampire tales and stories of the supernatural.
