The Kindle Unlimited KENP rate for August 2018 stayed at the same level as July at $0.0045 while the KDP Select Global fund rose by $200,000 to $23.3 million from $23.1 million in July.
The KENP rate continues to follow a steady trend so far this year, with $0.0044 in January, $0.0046 in February, $0.0045 for March, April and May, $0.0046 in June, $0.0045 in July and now $0.0045 again for August.
In the UK market the KENP rate for August 2018 also held steady at the same level as July of £0.0034.
The size of the KDP Select fund for July 2018 at $23.3 million was 22.5% up on the $19 million paid out in July 2017.
The KENP rate has kept to a very stable trend since KENP v3.0 was introduced a year ago in August 2017, keeping almost entirely in the range of $0.0044-$0.0046 with the exception of December 2017 which saw a substantial rise to $0.0050.
By comparison, under KENP v2.0, which ran from February 2016 until July 2017, the KENP rate fluctuated from a low of $0.0040 to a high of $0.0053.
Kindle Unlimited has now paid out a total of just over $746.5 million to authors since it launched in July 2014.
For August 2018, using the calculation of dividing the total KDP Select fund ($23.3 million) by the US KENP rate ($0.0045) to get an idea of the total number of KENPs read during the month results in 5.17 billion KENPs, up from 5 billion in July.
Previous monthly figures include 4.9 billion in June, 5 billion for May, 4.7 billion in April, 4.66 billion in March, 4.54 billion in February, 4.75 billion KENPs in January, 4.42 billion in December 2017 and 4.3 billion in November.
The total paid out by the KDP Select Global fund for the first eight months of this year now totals $173.6 million.
