IT’S GUEST AUTHOR SATURDAY!! Please welcome time-travel romance author Anastasia Abboud…

Hi, Anastasia! I am thrilled to welcome you to my blog for the first time and hope you had sufficient fun to return 🙂 I am looking forward to learning more about you and your latest release TREMORS THROUGH TIME – let’s get going with my questions, shall we?

1.)                What genre do you typically read? Why?

I love romance. I enjoy several subgenres, but if I was going to choose only one, it would be historical romance. Often brilliantly researched and written, with characters I root for, they afford a history lesson wrapped in beauty and passion. I also love cozy mysteries for the settings and wonderful characters. Best of all, both genres offer satisfying endings.

2.)                Share a favourite childhood memory.

My maternal grandmother was a small woman with beautiful white hair and laughing blue eyes. She had a temper, but she controlled it. She was stoic and dignified, an island of calm. My beautiful mother, on the other hand, was emotional and complicated. She loved us (her children), but her life was tempestuous. You can imagine how relieved I was, even as a small child, when my grandmother came to visit.

She would cook for us. I was the single only person in my family who liked rice pudding. My grandmother didn’t even like it. But every time she came over, I would ask her to make some for me. She always did.

One day, I was sitting on my bedroom floor – I don’t remember how old I was – trying to figure out how to tie my shoes. My mom wasn’t patient with things like that. My grandmother came looking for me with a small bowl of rice pudding. When she found me hunched there on the carpet, she sat right down beside me in her dress and pumps and handed me the bowl. As I blissfully gobbled it up, she whistled a nameless tune. I laugh when I think about it now, because I don’t know what prompted her to do so. It wasn’t even particularly melodious. But it was comforting.

Once I’d finished my treat, she took the bowl, set it aside, and asked me what I was doing.

You can guess what happened next. Before we got up, I’d learned how to tie my shoes.

Her calming presence and loving care that day – making a dessert just for just me and me alone, spending time with me in a most simple way, helping me master a skill – are still a gift to me. Loving care like that, it’s timeless.

3.)                Do you have any shameless addictions?

I’m an avid gardener and an avid reader. So, plants and books!

4.)                What do you think is the biggest challenge of writing a new book?

For me, it’s time.

5.)                Do you aim for a set amount of words/pages a day?

Noooo. Refer to previous question.

6.)                What are your thoughts on writing a book series?

I’m working on my first series now and I’m finding it a wonderful experience. I appreciate the luxury of extended time with characters I love. I feel the same about reading a book series. It’s a joy.

Thank you again, Rachel. This has been a pleasure.

Author Bio:

For me, playing is the best — playing outdoors in nature or in my garden, experimenting in the kitchen, spending time with those I love. I also enjoy disappearing into a good book, attempting crafts, learning, writing, exploring, discovering. I especially like to mix it up and have yet to perfect any of it; and I’ve come to realize that perfection’s not the point. It’s all wonderfully fun. That’s the point!

I prefer authentic and natural, be it food, lifestyle, people. I passionately enjoy both history and science, and certainly sociology to a degree, and I am most truly a romantic.

My husband and I have been married for over forty years. We reside near Houston, Texas, surrounded by loved ones. We have a blast with our little grandchildren.

I thank God for this wonderful life.
