Friday Reads -The In-Laws by Laura Wolfe

A warm welcome to author Laura Wolfe who has dropped by today to talk to us about her latest gripping thriller, The In-Laws. Let’s find out a bit more about the book. 🙂

The In-Laws (Bookouture, January 2023)

It was supposed to be the perfect family weekend away. How could I have known that not all of us would get out of it alive…

As soon as I met Pete, I knew he was the one. Sure, our backgrounds are wildly different, but from our first date underneath the stars, I’ve known we were destined for each other.

Now we’re finally planning our dream wedding. But there’s one big problem standing between us and “I do”:  our parents, who hate each other.

So I thought a weekend away hiking would be just the thing. Surely if we all spend some quality time together, we can be the big perfect family I’ve always dreamed of?

But then everything starts to go wrong, and as tensions rise, we receive a terrible threat…

By then, it’s far too late, as I realize we should never have come here in the first place. Because there’s more than just our wedding on the line… by the end of the weekend, one of us won’t make it out alive.

And I have to face the truth: is the killer closer to home than I ever could have imagined? Are they actually one of us?

A completely and utterly gripping psychological thriller, perfect for fans of Gone Girl, The Marriage, and The Silent Patient.

Welcome to my blog Laura. Your book sounds amazing. What do you like writing most?

I love writing psychological thrillers—stories filled with dark secrets, plenty of paranoia, and lots of plot twists! This is also the genre I enjoy reading (along with watching a lot of true crime on TV), so it is no wonder that these types of nail-biting, murderous scenarios often pop into my head. I like the feeling of being a little bit scared and unsure of the character’s motivations. I also enjoy taking an ordinary setting, such as a suburban neighborhood or a small town, and making it scary. I strive to write fast-paced, terrifying plots that keep people on the edge of their seats.

When you have some free time what are your hobbies?

I am a lover of animals and nature. I enjoy taking my dog hiking through local nature trails and, generally, spending time outdoors. I have a large backyard vegetable garden where I grow tons of veggies in the summertime. My husband and I stopped eating meat ten years ago, and we cook lots of vegetarian and vegan recipes, using produce from the garden when possible. I’m also an avid tennis player and currently play in two local women’s leagues. Tennis is great because it is social and provides exercise at the same time!

It;’s sounds like you’re very busy! Thanks so much for talking to us today, Laura. I hope your book soars.
