December 7 is cut-off point for ‘wide’ distribution on ebooks for Christmas and New Year

Ebook distributor Draft2digital is warning indie authors to submit their new titles by Friday, December 7 to ensure their books are published in time for Christmas.

Christmas falls on Tuesday this year, so the D2D offices will be closed on Monday, December 24, and Tuesday, December 25. Normal office hours will resume on Wednesday, December 26. The D2D will also be closed on Tuesday, January 1 for the New Year holiday.

Here are some more deadline details from individual ebook retailers:

APPLE BOOKS

Delivery deadline December 7 for release dates from December 14-28.

Delivery deadline December 14 for release dates from January 1-4.

Apple does not recommend making changes between December 21 and December 28.

BARNES & NOBLE

Book submissions and metadata changes supplied to Barnes & Noble from Draft2Digital are processed the next business day.

B&N will be closed on December 25 and January 1 with limited support in between.

Automated delivery will continue throughout the holiday period on a 24/7 basis but no files will be processed and there will be no direct support on days when closed.

KOBO

Kobo will have only limited support from December 22 to January 3.

The company is asking for authors and publishers to upload only important and non-deferrable imports during that time. Kobo’s publishing system may be down entirely from December 22 until January 3. During this time D2D will not be able to submit any new books or changes. D2D recommends getting everything submitted to Kobo by December 7.

SCRIBD

Scribd will have limited support over the break between December 25 and January 1.

TOLINO

No imports will be processed from December 22 to December 27 and December 29 to January 2.

Tolino recommends only sending important uploads between December 18 and January 8.

AMAZON

Amazon Support will be closed on December 25 and January 1.

Pre-orders scheduled over the Christmas and New Year periods will go live as expected, provided final manuscripts are sent to D2D and approved before the cut-off date of December 7.
