Michael's Blood, by S.S. Bazinet

I love a good vampire story, and this is one of them. It’s slow paced and hardly has any action, so in that respect it’s already different from the vampire stories I’ve read so far. You’re sucked into the story of Arel, a vampire who drinks the blood of his guardian angel in the hope he will be cured of his curse. Along the way, he makes a couple of friends who appear to be more than just that.

What I liked about the story is that it is well written with an eloquent word choice. Typos are as good as non-existent which makes for a pleasant reading experience.

What I didn’t like about the story is that it has a very slow pace and that it has a rather gloomy aspect in total, with people in it constantly questioning themselves. I prefer my stories with a bit more action, humor, and surprises.

The book is the first in a series (currently five books), titled The Vampire Reclamation Project.

Overall I can recommend ‘Michael’s Blood’ to anyone looking for a good story that delves deep into what motivates people and that has lots of drama due to miscommunication.
