Good Morning, Booklovers!

It’s time for a another session of book talk with a guest author. This week Kim McMahill is joining us with her featured romantic suspense book, A Measure of Madness.
Welcome, Kim! How do you take your coffee?

KM:  I drink two cups each morning made from freshly ground beans with a splash of French vanilla creamer.

Ally: Easy to make. While I pour, please introduce yourself to readers.

INTERVIEW:

Ally:  Do you write with an audience in mind or to a publisher’s required theme?

KM:  I write with the audience in mind. I read and write action, adventure, and suspense with romantic elements. My publisher is primarily a Christian Fiction publisher with a small group of non-Christian Fiction writers like me, so as long as I keep it clean, I’ve been given a lot of freedom to write my stories my way.

Ally:  Which of your books would you especially recommend to readers?

KM:  My most current project has been the Risky Research series. Though each novel can stand alone, it will be most enjoyed if the reader starts at the beginning with A Dose of Danger. My best seller has been and still is, Marked in Mexico, but I am very partial to Shrouded in Secrets.

Ally: Imagine you’re thrown into a different time period—either past or future, what book hero would you want with you? Why?

KM:  Deuce from Big Horn Storm. He’s a tough modern-day rancher/cowboy, so if I’m in the past he’d have the horse skills and rural knowledge to survive, but he’s tough enough to take on the worst of the worst including foreign invaders. And, he’s smoking hot.

Ally:  Do you read reviews of your books? Do you respond to them? Are you affected by them?

KM:  I do read reviews. I don’t respond to them because everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and it is generally not a productive effort. I greatly appreciate constructive reviews and it makes me very happy when I read that someone enjoyed one of my books. I am affected by reviews that are negative without a helpful reason. I recall one that the reviewer admitted to not reading the book because they could tell it was in a series (which is clearly noted on Amazon). I can understand putting a book down once realizing you’ve jumped into the middle of a series, but not giving it a poor numeric rating without reading it.

Ally:  What is your next writing project? Anticipated release date?

KM:  I am working on the fifth and likely final installment in the Risky Research series, A Recipe for Revenge. It hasn’t been submitted to my publisher yet, so it is probably several years down the road.

Ally:  Which of the trivia questions did you select?

KM:

  • a movie you’ll always remember: The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. I’ve watched it so many times I often quote it.
  • favorite comfort food: Homemade Macaroni and Cheese (my husband’s version)
  • What type of music do you prefer? I guess you call it world music. The unique instruments and beats always take me on a journey to some faraway place.
  • favorite quote: Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness…Mark Twain, Innocents Abroad
  • best place you’ve ever visited: Thailand

Ally:  Thanks for being on the blog, Kim. Before we end the interview, please show us your featured book.
