Faceless by Rob Ashman.

I’ll open this post by saying that it was lovely to introduce my book alongside Rob Ashman’s at the Wigan Noir at the Old Courts event on the 13th September this year. It was an amazing night and I’m thrilled to have met some great authors.

Here’s a little bit of information on Rob’s first book in the DI Rosalind Kray series.

Book description:

After surviving a vicious knife attack, which left her husband dead, DI Rosalind Kray returns to work and is handed a serial killer investigation.

This killer is different, he doesn’t just want to take the lives of his victims, he wants to obliterate their very existence. The murders appear random but the killer selects his quarry with meticulous care.

While fighting her superiors Kray must conquer her own demons, which are tearing her apart.

Kray has the ability to think like a killer and her skills lead to a series of horrifying revelations that turn the case on its head. She believes she is getting close, then her world comes crashing down with devastating consequences.

Will Kray find the murderer and escape with her own life in tact?

The truth is closer than she could have ever imagined…

My thoughts:

I found Faceless to be an absolutely gripping crime novel, and the chapters written from the antagonist’s point of view had me glued to the page. As I read, I got so engrossed, I felt as though I was really delving into the workings of an evil mind which is testament to Rob Ashman’s character building.

Protagonist, DI Ros Kray, is kickass and beautifully flawed. You feel her pain and the potency in which it fuels her determination. In my opinion, this led to a compelling read, giving me, the reader, the depth needed to feel a genuine connection.

If you love a good detective thriller with a addictive plot that will certainly give you nightmares, this is the book for you.
