Corfu Town – what a cracker of a place!

After holidaying in Dassia (May 2018), I felt compelled to write a little post about Corfu Town. What a cracker of a place! You get all the hustle and bustle of a big city wrapped in Venetian charm. Beautiful houses adorned with shutters. Sugared almond coloured buildings perfectly complimented by the sunny skies – at least it was sunny when we went. A historical fortress framed by the Ionian Sea. What more could a person want when visiting a city?

I can honestly say I loved Corfu Town with its cafe lined streets and many shops. If you want to join Nigel and I on a walk-through, please click the YouTube link below.

If shopping is your thing, you won’t be disappointed. From fashion to good old fruit, Corfu Town has it all. Streets lined with shops lead to yet more streets and more shops. There is so much in this town, you’ll need a couple of days to fully explore everything. Plus, the cafes are lovely, offering something for everyone. I try to eat mostly plant based food and normally find this difficult when on holiday but several places were offering vegan pies and soya milk based hot drinks. I ordered a Monastery Pie. Never heard of it before but it was yummy. I thoroughly recommend this filo pastry covered delight with a tomatoey ratatouille style filling. It certainly set me up for the day ahead.

Anyway, enough of me rambling on, here’s a few photos (taken in my phone, so excuse the quality). If you’re going to Corfu, make sure you get to Corfu Town. You wouldn’t want to miss out on visiting this amazing place.

The Next Girl

She thought he’d come to save her. She was wrong.

Deborah Jenkins pulls her coat around her as she sets out on her short walk home in the pouring rain. But she never makes it home that night. And she is never seen again …

Four years later, an abandoned baby girl is found wrapped in dirty rags on a doorstep. An anonymous phone call urges the police to run a DNA test on the baby. But nobody is prepared for the results.

The newborn belongs to Deborah. She’s still alive.

If you love Lisa Gardner, Patricia Gibney and Robert Bryndza, you’ll love this jaw-dropping new crime thriller from Carla Kovach. The Next Girl will keep you guessing until the very last page.
